Car Transporter Drivers

Full Time, Permanent

£52,000 – £54,000 OTE

Job Description

NVD are a leading provider of vehicle transportation services for car manufacturers, dealerships, and car leasing companies throughout the UK and Ireland.

Main duties will include the collection and delivery of new vehicles all over the UK.

You will be responsible for inspecting vehicles for damage before loading and obtaining customer signatures upon collection/delivery. You will also complete a daily vehicle check to ensure the vehicle is road worthy and that all checks are carried out in line with the ‘Daily Vehicle Check’ procedure using scanners.

JOB DESCRIPTION

 

PDI Technician

Summary of Position

 

The Mechanically minded General Operative will operate as part of a workshop team and will take responsibility for completing a range of Workshop tasks as assigned and in line with company policy, procedures, and safety standards. The operative will also assist with other workshop tasks as may be required from time to time.

 

Duties and Responsibilities

 

The following list of specific duties and responsibilities is indicative and not exhaustive:-

 

  • Log onto to the Inform and OEM systems using company provided Tablet and receive work orders indicating assigned PDI tests to be completed. Alternatively, receive work order instructions from PDI technician colleagues or team leader.
  • Collect a car for PDI from outside the workshop and drive the car to the correct inspection bay. The car will be positioned into place, per PDI procedure, at the inspection bay.
  • Inspect certain specified items and or complete various tasks in line with company procedures. These include, for example, checking suspension, car under-body, wheel nuts, tyre pressure, number plates, oils, fluids, battery, diagnostics, shunt fuse activation, child locks, remote locks, interior functions including door electrics, mirrors, radio codes and functions, wipers, lights, sat nav, sun-roof and other similar items.
  • The team will perform a test drive on the inspected vehicle, noting any final issues and rectifying if possible.
  • The inspection will be tracked and a check-list completed, either on line or by paper, confirming that each element of the particular inspection has been completed by the general operative (and technician).
  • Attend training as required.
  • Follow the PDI process and procedure.
  • Follow all company health and safety procedures.
  • Assist with general duties in other parts of the workshop with light body repair and paint work. Duties may include vehicle preparation, vehicle finishing / assembly / vehicle cleaning and valeting.
  • Assist with general duties in other on-site workshops including van or commercial conversions moving of vehicles to and from load lanes fuelling, charging as required.
  • Assist with general duties with regard to batch jobs as may be required from time to time.
  • Follow all inventory requisition procedures.
  • Dispose of waste material properly and in line with environmental and health and safety procedures
  • Other general duties as may be assigned from time to time.
  • May be required to operate a shift rotation if required

 

 

Experience and qualifications

 

  • Experience in the motor trade advantageous
  • Mechanically minded, perhaps with formal mechanical qualification
  • Experience working with cars advantageous.
  • Level 2 /3 hybrid and electric vehicle training advantageous.
  • Alarm or accessory fitment experience advantageous
  • Modifying cars
  • Good dexterity
  • Ability to think logically, solve problems and follow a process
  • Good communicator
  • Team working ability and skills
  • Down to earth disposition
  • Reasonable IT skills

Experienced Car Transporter Mechanics

National Vehicle Distribution are pleased to announce the opening of our Car Transporter Maintenance Workshop at Birtley, Tyne & Wear.

We have several positions for full-time experienced HGV mechanics. The ideal candidates will be self-starters, with a ”can do attitude” and good problem-solving skills. Rate of pay £22.50 – £27.50 per hour (depending on experience).

Responsibilities:

· Carry out general mechanical planned and corrective maintenance.

· Carry out diagnostic fault identification and rectification repair.

Essential Skills and Experience

· Car Transporter maintenance experience.

· Excellent communication and team working skills.

· Determined and resilient, with the drive to complete tasks.

· Ideally have experience working on Mercedes, Renault & Scania.

· Ideally have experience working with basic hydraulic systems.

Personal Specification

· Organised.

· Self-motivated.

· Strong work ethic.

· Eagerness to learn and share knowledge.

· Flexible.

· Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment while remaining calm and focused.

Successful candidates must hold a formal qualification ie; City and Guilds level 3 in vehicle repairs or equivalent and have a minimum of 3 years post apprenticeship experience with the maintenance of HGV trucks and trailers.

Job Types: Full Time with flexible start / finish times roster.

Expected start date: Immediate.
