Job Description

NVD are a leading provider of vehicle transportation services for car manufacturers, dealerships, and car leasing companies throughout the UK and Ireland. We are currently hiring for several 11 Car Transport Drivers.

Main duties will include the collection and delivery of new vehicles all over Ireland.

You will be responsible for inspecting vehicles for damage before loading and obtaining customer signatures upon collection/delivery. You will also complete a daily vehicle check to ensure the vehicle is road worthy and that all checks are carried out in line with the ‘Daily Vehicle Check’ procedure using scanners.

Summary of Position

Working in a fast-paced workshop, the suitable candidate is responsible for providing a quality vehicle body repair service.

The role is primarily concerned with ensuring vehicles are repaired and painted in a timely manner to the required standard. The successful candidates will be tasked with ensuring that body shop targets and KPI’s are met daily. The role requires full adherence to SHEQ procedures and Health & Safety policies and procedures.

This position is based in the NVD Ringaskiddy Workshop. The candidate may subsequently be assigned to work in different departments within the workshop during peak times as outline by the workshop manager. We are looking for a candidate with an interest in progressing to Workshop Supervisor or Workshop Manager. NVD will provide full training and ongoing support to the successful candidate.

Duties and responsibilities include:

  • Preparing estimates in accordance with company standards.
  • Preparing vehicles for repair work
  • Stripping damaged vehicles
  • Repairing vehicles to the highest standard
  • Preparing vehicles for pre- entry into spray booth
  • Spray painting vehicles
  • Ensuring compliance with established Job Card procedures
  • Ensuring correct stock levels are maintained on a weekly basis
  • QA sign off on all jobs.
  • Communicating all potential issues in advance to Manager/Supervisor
  • Ensuring compliance with SHEQ procedures
  • Ensuring workshop continues operations under a ‘Clean as you policy’
  • Ensuring compliance with safe working/operating practices and procedures
  • Undertaking other duties from time to time as outlined to you by your Manager/Supervisor


Skills and Qualifications:

  • Fully qualified Panel Beater/ Spray painter
  • PDR/Smart Repair experience essential
  • Team player as well as being able to work on own initiative.

Workshop Shift Leaders

Description of Role: 

National Vehicle Distribution (NVD) Ltd are currently recruiting for several HGV Mechanic Shift Leader / Supervisor’s to join our team in Baldonnell, Co Dublin.


  • Hold a formal qualification ie; National Craft Certificate or City and Guilds Level 3 in vehicle repairs or equivalent
  • Have a minimum of 3 years post apprenticeship experience with the maintenance of HGV trucks and trailers.


Key Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Works closely under the supervision of the Workshop Manager.
  • Jointly supervise and carry out a productive role in HGV planned maintenance, corrective repair events, CVRT fleet preparation, modification activities and after-hours breakdown management.
  • Closely monitor and assist with the trainee mechanics and general operative’s skills development and performance.
  • Responsible for implementation and maintenance of our 5s workshop cleanliness standards.
  • Carry out quality control checks on both work in progress and completed jobs.
  • Provide technical advice and guidance to all staff.
  • Review KPI furnished data from the Workshop Manager, monitor KPI screens & work closely with staff to ensure all agreed KPI are met.
  • Maintain usage control on all equipment, spare parts and consumable items.
  • Attend daily brief with the Workshop Manager to report any issues and assist with the forward planning of the maintenance program.
  • Provide a stand-in cover for the Workshop Manager when necessary.

HGV Technical Training Specialist

National Vehicle Distribution have an exciting new role for a HGV Technical Training Specialist at Baldonnell, Co Dublin.  Reporting to the Maintenance Manager, the training delivery will be a combination of on-the-job and classroom technical training carried out at our Baldonnell base workshop and on-site City & Guilds Learning Centre. You will be required to deliver several City & Guilds L2 & L3 module curriculums and deliver HGV systems general training in order to  upskill our skilled operative, apprentice and mechanic staff members.

Applicants will have operational knowledge and a hands-on repair & maintenance experience of HGV mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems.


  • Accountable for initial technical induction, 5S standard & SOP’s training requirements.
  • Conduct a skill needs appraisal for the workshop staff and develop a prioritised training agenda.
  • Review the monthly maintenance plan and provide a training matrix for the upcoming week to the Workshop Manager.
  • Accountable for supporting continuous improvement behaviours and to demonstrate responsiveness of the training provision in relation to evolving requirements.
  • Support Lean training initiatives and help to develop all staff in Lean working procedures.
  • Accountable for the recording of the training records for audit purposes.

Essential Skills and Experience

  • Previous experience of design and implementation of a training system.
  • Delivery of training within a workshop / motor trade environment.
  • Excellent communication, leadership and team working skills.
  • Determined and resilient, with the drive to complete tasks.
  • Be willing to undertake any necessary training to achieve the required staff member competencies and upskilling objectives.
  • HGV or Plant mechanical qualification & maintenance experience.
